A tragic accident in Beechganwa village, Alwar district, claimed the lives of two Kanwariyas and injured 30 others when a truck carrying devotees of Lord Shiva struck a low-hanging 11,000 kV electric wire during a village parikrama (circumambulation) on Wednesday morning.
The incident, which occurred around 7:30 AM, sparked outrage among locals who blocked the Laxmangarh-Mundawar road, protesting the negligence of authorities in addressing complaints about dangling power lines.
Police confirmed the electrocution deaths, with five of the injured in critical condition, receiving treatment at Laxmangarh and Garhi Sawairam hospitals. Locals alleged prior complaints about the hazardous wires were ignored, though Laxmangarh tehsildar Mamta Kumari claimed unawareness.
The administration has promised comprehensive medical care for the injured and a thorough investigation into the incident’s cause, amid growing calls for accountability and infrastructure reforms.
