A devastating accident claimed three lives and injured ten others when a tempo traveller plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on Bharath-Bagla road near Ponda, where the vehicle, bearing registration number JK06-4847, skidded off the road while navigating a blind curve, officials reported.
Rescue operations were promptly launched, with police, civil administration, and local volunteers rushing to the scene. The three deceased were pronounced dead at the site, while the ten injured passengers were transported to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for treatment, four in critical condition. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, in contact with Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, confirmed that all possible medical aid is being provided.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting the driver lost control due to the challenging terrain. This tragedy adds to a series of fatal road accidents in Doda, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region’s mountainous areas.
