A devastating landmine explosion rocked the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, claiming the life of a brave Indian Army Agniveer and leaving two others wounded. The heart-wrenching incident occurred during a routine area domination patrol in the Krishna Ghati sector, sending shockwaves through the region and reigniting concerns about the dangers faced by soldiers guarding India’s volatile borders.
The fallen hero, Agniveer Lalit Kumar of the 7 JAT Regiment, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Two others, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), sustained injuries and were swiftly airlifted to a military hospital in Udhampur, where they are reported to be stable. The blast, triggered by a landmine, underscores the ever-present risks in the LoC’s heavily militarized zones, where anti-infiltration measures like landmines are deployed but can lead to tragic accidents.
The Army’s White Knight Corps paid a moving tribute on X, stating, “All ranks salute Agniveer Lalit Kumar, who laid down his life during a patrol in Krishna Ghati following a mine blast. We stand in solidarity with his bereaved family.” The post sparked an outpouring of grief and admiration online, with netizens hailing Kumar’s bravery and praying for the recovery of the injured.
