The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to host a pivotal two-day Anti-Terror Conference starting Friday, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurating the event. Senior police officials from across the country will convene to strengthen prosecution-led counter-terrorism efforts and develop a standardised legal framework for investigations, marking a significant step toward coordinated national security measures.
Key discussions will focus on sharing operational experiences, adopting best practices, and leveraging emerging technologies to dismantle terror networks. Participants will also explore enhanced international legal cooperation and strategies to disrupt terror ecosystems operating in various regions, while reviewing progress on recommendations from the previous year's conference.
Last year's meeting achieved consensus on the necessity of collaborative efforts and a unified approach to combat terrorism, particularly in areas like cybercrime and terror financing. It emphasised a comprehensive strategy involving all levels of government and policing, setting the stage for this year's deliberations across thematic sessions on evidence collection from abroad, digital forensics, trial management, radicalisation, hybrid threats, and disrupting financing networks.

Officials anticipate potential key announcements from the Home Minister, including updates on the formulation of India's first national counter-terrorism policy. This policy, currently being finalised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to provide states with a standardised template for responding to terror incidents.
The conference underscores the government's zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, with Amit Shah expected to personally assess advancements in coordinated approaches to emerging challenges such as drug-linked funding and cryptocurrency misuse, reinforcing a future-ready framework for national security.
