The forest department has been placed on high alert at Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district following a territorial clash between tigress Ridhhi (T-124) and her daughter T-2504. The incident, which occurred in Zone III of the reserve, resulted in injuries to both animals and prompted intensified monitoring by officials.
Ranthambore Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Manas Singh confirmed that the fight led to an injury on tigress Ridhhi’s ear, while her daughter sustained an injury to her leg. He stated that territorial disputes among big cats are closely tracked, and teams are continuously observing the movements and behaviour of the two tigresses to ensure their safety.
A joint inspection was carried out by Ranthambore ranger Ashwini Pratap Singh and veterinary officer Dr C.P. Meena. The forest department is assessing the severity of the injuries based on photographs and field observations, after which further action will be taken under the guidance of senior officials.

Officials noted that territorial conflicts among tigers and tigresses are not uncommon in Ranthambore due to high tiger density. Similar incidents in the past have occasionally resulted in serious injuries and, in rare cases, fatalities among the big cats.
The heightened alert also comes amid broader wildlife safety concerns in the region. Earlier this month, a tragic leopard attack near the Atila Balaji temple area claimed the life of a young child from a nearby settlement, intensifying scrutiny of human–wildlife conflict around the park’s fringe areas.
Following that incident, district authorities and forest officials assured affected families of government support and assistance. However, local residents have raised concerns over safety measures and ongoing disputes with the forest department, highlighting the delicate balance between conservation efforts and community safety around Ranthambore National Park.
