Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to lead a high-level delegation to Delhi on Wednesday to rally cross-party MP support for a groundbreaking 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, official sources revealed. Arriving in the capital by afternoon, Reddy plans to meet key Union Ministers and senior Congress leaders to advance this agenda.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that the delegation will update Congress’s central leadership on Telangana’s caste survey modalities and execution. “Our goal is to swiftly introduce the BC Bill in Parliament and secure widespread support,” Vikramarka stated, noting that around 100 Congress MPs are expected to back the initiative.
Additionally, the delegation will push for including caste data in the national census, seeking broader parliamentary support for this transformative legislation. This move underscores Telangana’s commitment to enhancing BC representation in governance.
