Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led a tribute ceremony at the state secretariat in Hyderabad, offering floral respects to the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 81st birth anniversary.
Addressing the gathering, Reddy hailed Gandhi’s legacy, noting his sacrifice for the nation and his role as an inspiration for India’s youth. He credited Gandhi with lowering the voting age to 18, empowering young citizens to shape the country’s future, and introducing reservations for women in local governance, fostering gender inclusivity.
Reddy, a Congress leader, reiterated the party’s commitment to seeing Rahul Gandhi become India’s Prime Minister, pledging to amend laws to allow those aged 21 to contest Legislative Assembly elections, lowering the current age limit of 25.
The event saw participation from TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, and other leaders, who also paid tributes.
