Slovakia President Peter Pellegrini described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “historic milestone” in India–Slovakia relations. The leaders met at Hyderabad House on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit, reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral engagement including trade, investment, digital technologies, defence, space, energy, and cultural exchanges.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders welcomed the momentum generated by the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and the India-EU Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2030. They agreed to strengthen India-Slovakia cooperation further, particularly in the digital and innovation sectors, for mutual benefit.
Pellegrini termed the reception, the first-ever for a Slovak Head of State in India, a major step forward in diplomatic engagement. He congratulated India for hosting the “exceptionally well-organised” India AI Impact Summit 2026, which brought together global leaders, innovators, and business experts to scale AI responsibly and foster international collaboration.

The Slovak President highlighted discussions on trade, investment, secure technology, and talent development, including academic and expert exchanges in energy and innovation. He emphasised that AI should be democratised to benefit the wider population rather than a select few, reflecting a shared commitment to inclusive technological progress.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026, themed ‘Welfare for all, happiness of all,’ aims to establish India as a global AI leader while promoting responsible AI deployment and inclusive growth. The summit operates on three pillars — People, Planet, and Progress — with seven working groups addressing areas such as economic growth, social good, safe AI, human capital, science, and resilience.
Over 500 global AI leaders, including CEOs, founders, academicians, and policymakers, are participating in the summit, positioning India at the forefront of international AI discourse and signalling strong collaboration opportunities with countries like Slovakia.
