Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday reaffirmed his government’s dedication to bolstering judicial infrastructure to ensure accessible justice for all citizens, regardless of location or resources. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new District Court Complex in Pakyong, attended by Sikkim High Court Chief Justice Biswanath Somaddar, Tamang emphasized the transformative role of such initiatives in strengthening the state’s justice delivery system.

The Pakyong court complex is part of a broader effort to make justice equitable and efficient across Sikkim. The Chief Minister also celebrated the establishment of the Directorate of Prosecution, a new body designed to ensure timely and fair prosecution, fostering greater accountability and public trust in the legal system.
Tamang expressed pride in the launch of Sikkim National Law University, which he said is shaping the next generation of legal professionals from within the state. He also underscored the importance of recent legal reforms, including the adoption of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, describing them as historic steps toward modernizing India’s legal framework. The state government, he assured, is fully committed to their effective implementation.
