Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav fiercely criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Uttar Pradesh government's 'Vision 2047' document, labeling it a hollow attempt to distract from present-day failures. The SP leaders accused the BJP of ignoring pressing issues like unemployment, inflation, and poor infrastructure while peddling unattainable dreams for 2047.
Akhilesh Yadav, SP chief and former chief minister, demanded the BJP release a "reason document" to justify its unfulfilled promises over the past nine years. He accused the government of rampant corruption, mismanagement, and failure in critical areas like law and order, flood control, education, and healthcare. "The BJP has no vision; it has only broken records in inflation and unemployment," Akhilesh said, pointing to the lack of new district hospitals, deteriorating ambulance services, and closed schools under BJP rule.
He further criticized the government for neglecting farmers, failing to provide essential agricultural resources like fertilizers, seeds, and water, despite promises to double their income. Akhilesh contrasted this with the SP's tenure from 2012 to 2017, which he claimed delivered tangible progress through expressways, metro services, laptops for students, and modern police reforms.

Shivpal Yadav, SP leader and Jaswantnagar MLA, dismissed 'Vision 2047' as a "fictional tale" designed to sell false hopes. He mocked the BJP’s unfulfilled 2022 promise to double farmers’ income, noting that in 2025, farmers are forced to sell produce at half price. "The BJP’s vision is a Kisan Credit Bluff," he said, questioning promises of prosperity by 2047 when current agricultural systems remain broken.
Shivpal also highlighted the dire state of healthcare, with patients receiving saline drips under trees due to inadequate facilities. He ridiculed the BJP’s promise of digital hospitals by 2047, asking, "Where are the stretchers in 2025?" On rising crime, he accused the BJP of shielding criminals, sarcastically noting that they receive a "guard of honour" in 2025 while the government promises to end crime by 2047.
Education was another point of contention, with Shivpal slamming the BJP’s vision of smart classrooms by 2047 when children today study on broken benches. He called the government’s approach a "start-stop-start classroom" rather than a smart one. Additionally, he accused the BJP of taking credit for SP’s development projects while failing to address poverty, labeling their 2047 poverty elimination goal a "plan to keep the poor hungry."
Both leaders described 'Vision 2047' as a political tactic, with Shivpal calling it an "installment scheme" where new promises are made before elections while old ones are forgotten. "The people want justice today, not slogans for 2047," he declared.
The criticism comes as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a 24-hour discussion on 'Vision 2047 - Viksit UP' during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s four-day Monsoon session, starting Monday. The document outlines a 25-year action plan for a developed, self-reliant Uttar Pradesh by 2047, aligned with India’s national goals. However, SP leaders argue it sidesteps accountability for the state’s current challenges.
