The Shiv Sena (UBT) faction led by Uddhav Thackeray initiated the distribution of AB forms to its candidates on Monday for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, opting not to release an official candidate list immediately to preempt potential internal rebellions. These essential documents authorize individuals to file nominations as official party representatives, marking a strategic step in the party's preparations.
Shiv Sena (UBT) is contesting the elections in alliance with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, with the party planning to field candidates in over 150 of the 227 wards, though the precise allocation remains under finalization. Sources indicate that the forms have been extended to relatives of several party MPs and MLAs, reflecting a preference for dynastic continuity within the organization.
Among the recipients are Rajool Patil, daughter of Mumbai Northeast MP Sanjay Dina Patil, and Ankit Prabhu, son of Dindoshi MLA Sunil Prabhu. Additionally, numerous office bearers from the Yuva Sena, the party's youth wing, have received the forms, alongside corporators who remained loyal to Thackeray following the 2022 split in the original Shiv Sena.

Loyal corporators who stood by the Uddhav faction during the internal division have been prioritized for tickets, according to party insiders, as a reward for their steadfast support. This approach underscores efforts to maintain unity and morale within the ranks amid heightened political competition.
The deadline for filing nominations falls on December 30, 2025, with polling scheduled for January 15, 2026, and vote counting set for January 16, 2026. As the nomination period concludes, intense activity across alliances is expected to shape the multi-cornered contest for control of India's richest civic body.
