The Lucknow–Delhi Shatabdi Express was targeted in a stone-pelting incident near Firozabad railway station on Thursday evening, prompting a security response after reports confirmed that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was among the passengers on board at the time of the attack. The incident occurred around 7:45 pm near the Pemeshwar Gate bridge on the Etawah–Tundla section of the railway line.

According to police officials, an unidentified individual allegedly hurled stones at one of the coaches of Train No. 12003 Up Shatabdi Express as it was passing through the area. The impact was reportedly limited to a single coach, but it triggered an immediate alert to railway authorities and local law enforcement agencies, who treated the matter as a potential security breach.

Sources confirmed that Bhagwat had boarded the train earlier in the journey from Kanpur and was travelling in the E1 coach. Officials stated that he remained completely safe and unharmed during the incident. No injuries to passengers were reported, and train operations were not significantly disrupted, though the event raised concern due to the presence of a high-profile passenger.

Following the alert, senior police officers rushed to the site to assess the situation and begin preliminary investigations. The response team included Firozabad Superintendent of Police Aditya Langhe, Agra Railway SP Anil Jha, and SP (City) Ravi Shankar Prasad. Security personnel inspected the track section and surrounding areas as part of the immediate inquiry.

Railway and police officials have initiated a detailed investigation to determine how the incident occurred and who was responsible. Authorities said they are currently working to identify the suspect, who remains unknown at this stage. CCTV footage from the railway corridor and nearby locations is being collected and examined to trace any movement linked to the stone-pelting. The incident has also prompted a review of security arrangements along the Shatabdi Express route, particularly in vulnerable stretches near semi-urban crossings and bridges.

Officials indicated that additional monitoring measures may be considered depending on the findings of the investigation. While no motive has yet been established, authorities are exploring all possible angles, including mischief and targeted intent. The presence of a prominent public figure on board has added sensitivity to the case, and officials have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure passenger safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
