Bihar’s Political Titan Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister for a record tenth time on November 20, 2025, at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan in a grand ceremony that will showcase NDA’s overwhelming strength after its landslide victory. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers from over ten NDA-ruled States are expected to attend, with more than three lakh supporters gathering under tight security to witness the historic moment.
The 74-year-old JD(U) supremo submitted his resignation on Wednesday and was immediately re-elected leader of the NDA legislature party. BJP’s Samrat Choudhary was chosen as Legislature Party Leader and Vijay Kumar Sinha as his Deputy, ensuring smooth coordination between the alliance partners that together won 202 of 243 seats.
Cabinet formation has been finalised after intense negotiations. The new council will have 16 BJP ministers and 14 from JD(U) including Nitish Kumar, while Chirag Paswan’s LJP(RV) gets three berths, and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM one each. BJP’s Prem Kumar is set to become Assembly Speaker, with JD(U) taking the Deputy Speaker post. Several new faces, including former IPS officer Anand Mishra from BJP and Umesh Singh Kushwaha from JD(U), will be inducted alongside experienced ministers.

Most sitting ministers from both major allies are likely to retain their positions, ensuring policy continuity on development, welfare, and infrastructure. The expanded NDA strength—BJP 89 seats, JD(U) 85—has translated into greater representation for both parties compared to 2020.
As Nitish Kumar begins another term, the focus remains on accelerating Bihar’s growth under the “double-engine” government, while opposition figure Prashant Kishor admitted his Jan Suraaj campaign’s poor showing was a setback but vowed to continue the fight in future elections.
