In an unexpected move, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, known for his fierce criticism of the BJP, showered praise on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his role in resolving the Maratha quota agitation. The resolution ended activist Manoj Jarange’s hunger strike, marking a significant victory for the community.
Speaking to reporters, Raut highlighted Fadnavis’s behind-the-scenes efforts, noting his involvement in cabinet sub-committee deliberations on the Maratha reservation. “If the government has addressed the issue and saved Jarange’s life, it deserves appreciation. All credit goes to Fadnavis,” Raut stated, also commending the CM’s patience amid harsh criticism from protesters.
Raut, however, took a swipe at other BJP leaders, accusing them of fuelling “extreme hate” during Jarange’s Mumbai fast. He also questioned the absence of Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar in the talks, suggesting they may have wanted the issue to escalate, putting Fadnavis in a tough spot.
