On the eve of International Women’s Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment, stating that empowered women form the strongest foundation of a prosperous society and a developed India. The chief minister made the remarks while participating in events across the capital and highlighting initiatives aimed at improving safety, mobility, and opportunities for women.
As part of her outreach, Gupta travelled on a bus operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation using the Saheli Pink National Common Mobility Card. Sharing her experience, she said the card enables quick and transparent travel by allowing passengers to simply tap it on the ticketing machine, which instantly records the journey. According to her, the facility is designed to make public transport more accessible and convenient for women across the city.
The chief minister said the mobility card is being issued free of cost at designated centres in Delhi. Women can obtain the card by registering with their Aadhaar number and mobile number, allowing them to travel free of charge on DTC buses. She encouraged women in the capital to avail themselves of the initiative and benefit from safer and more accessible public transport options.
