Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared that “every inch of Pakistan’s territory” is within the reach of India’s BrahMos missile, describing the military’s Operation Sindoor as “just a trailer” during a ceremony in Lucknow on Saturday. Joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Singh flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the new BrahMos Aerospace unit in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, a key milestone for India’s defence manufacturing.
Highlighting the missile’s role in Operation Sindoor, Singh emphasized its significance in bolstering India’s security. “What happened in Operation Sindoor was just a trailer, but it showed Pakistan that if India could create Pakistan, it can do much more,” he said, underscoring India’s growing military prowess. He noted that BrahMos has become the “spine” of India’s armed forces, with the new facility set to produce around 100 missiles annually for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The state-of-the-art facility, built on 200 acres at a cost of approximately Rs 380 crore, is equipped for missile integration, testing, and final quality checks. It is expected to generate hundreds of jobs and strengthen India’s self-reliance in defence production, aligning with the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) goals. Singh also addressed global supply chain disruptions, stating that India is overcoming challenges posed by supplier countries using spare parts shortages as a “weapon.”
