Ahead of his anticipated appointment as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala unit president, former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar turned to the teachings of revered saint-reformer Sree Narayana Guru for inspiration.
In a social media post on Monday, Chandrasekhar quoted Guru’s timeless advice: "Become enlightened through education, strengthened through organization, and prosperous through hard work," tagging it with #MondayMusings.
Accompanying the quote was a photograph of Sree Narayana Guru, a pivotal figure in Kerala’s social reform movement who championed equality and opposed the caste system in the last century. Guru hailed from the influential Ezhava community, a significant demographic in the state.
Chandrasekhar’s nod to Guru comes as he prepares to take the helm of BJP Kerala, with his formal election set to be announced after the party’s state council meeting today.
On Sunday, he submitted two sets of nomination papers at the BJP headquarters here, signaling his readiness to lead the party’s efforts in the state
