Incessant rainfall battered Maharashtra’s Thane and Palghar districts on Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of over 200 people to safer locations as floodwaters inundated homes, collapsed walls, and isolated entire villages, officials reported.
Heavy downpours caused severe waterlogging in Thane’s Kalyan taluka, with areas like Katai, Nandivali Shivani Nagar, Waldhuni, and Bhopar hit hard by swollen rivers. In Palghar’s Wada taluka, 14 houses in Gorat Gawari Pada were submerged, and 15 homes in Padgha’s Ganesh Nagar were flooded. Vasai’s Chandrapada, Sarja, Khandipada, and Chinchoti’s Odola also saw homes inundated, with residents moved to safety.
