Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has unleashed a fiery promise to deliver “exemplary punishment” to those responsible for the chilling e-mail threats targeting the sacred Golden Temple, calling the act an “unpardonable” crime. Speaking after paying his respects at the revered Sri Harmandir Sahib, Mann declared, “This holy place draws devotees from across the globe to pray for peace and prosperity—how dare anyone threaten it?”
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) reported receiving menacing e-mails threatening to blow up the Golden Temple, a site visited by lakhs daily. Punjab Police have already detained a software engineer from Faridabad, Haryana, in connection with the threats, and Mann revealed that the investigation is closing in fast. “We’ve got vital clues, and the culprits have been identified,” he said, assuring that scientific verification is underway and results will soon be public.
Mann emphasized the state’s unyielding commitment to the Golden Temple’s security, with Amritsar’s defenses significantly bolstered. “Our police are on high alert, keeping an eagle’s eye on the situation,” he said, urging devotees not to panic. The government has also reached out to the SGPC for any additional leads to crack the case.
