A large-scale protest organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and its youth wing Bajrang Dal erupted into significant unrest outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave on December 23, 2025, as demonstrators voiced strong condemnation of reported persecution and violence against Hindu minorities in neighboring Bangladesh.
The gathering drew hundreds of activists who assembled with saffron flags, placards, and effigies, chanting slogans accusing the Bangladeshi interim government of failing to protect Hindus, particularly highlighting the recent brutal mob lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man killed amid escalating communal tensions following political upheaval in the country.
Despite extensive security arrangements—including multiple layers of barricades, deployment of additional police contingents, Rapid Action Force personnel, and even a bus strategically placed to obstruct direct access—protesters forcefully breached the cordons, leading to physical confrontations with officers attempting to maintain order in the high-security zone.

Demonstrators burned effigies symbolizing the Bangladeshi leadership, displayed banners demanding justice and international intervention for minority safety, and sought to march toward the mission building itself, prompting authorities to issue repeated warnings through loudspeakers while detaining several individuals to de-escalate the situation and prevent potential damage to diplomatic property.
The incident has underscored growing frustrations within certain sections of Indian society over developments in Bangladesh since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina's government, amplifying concerns about regional stability, minority rights, and the strain on India-Bangladesh relations amid ongoing reports of targeted attacks on religious sites and communities across the border.
