On August 16, acclaimed filmmaker and advertising icon Prakash Varma, founder of Nirvana Films, will inaugurate the Creators & Marketers School (CMS) in Calicut, Kerala, marking a bold leap in creative business education. Launched by CDA Academy at YMCA Cross Road, this pioneering institution aims to nurture Gen Z talent in India’s first UNESCO City of Literature, blending Calicut’s cultural heritage with cutting-edge training for aspiring marketers, brand strategists, and entrepreneurs.
The CMS, co-founded by former Meta executive Jinu Ben, introduces a 10-month Advanced Marketing Manager & Entrepreneurship (AMME) program, designed for hands-on learning. Students will tackle live projects with real brands, guided by mentors like Varma and Brandswamy, a noted brand transformation consultant. With over 2,500 alumni from CDA Academy already placed in MNCs, ad agencies, and edtech firms, the school’s “learn by doing, earn while learning” model ensures practical skills and job readiness in high-demand sectors like e-commerce and digital marketing.
Located in Calicut’s vibrant creative hub, the CMS aspires to be a global talent incubator, addressing the 27% rise in demand for creative professionals in India, per a 2024 industry report. A YouTube teaser for the launch, featuring Varma, calls it “a movement where ideas turn into impact.” Social media buzz on X highlights local excitement, though some question the program’s accessibility for rural students. With faculty including industry veterans and a campus equipped for immersive learning, CMS is poised to shape the future of India’s creative economy.
