Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two transformative national highway projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore in Delhi’s Rohini area on Sunday, aimed at decongesting the capital and enhancing connectivity. The projects, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), are part of Modi’s vision to build world-class infrastructure that boosts mobility and improves quality of life in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, developed at a cost of ₹5,360 crore, includes a 5.9 km stretch from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21 and a 4.2 km segment from the RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border. This section connects directly to UER-II and provides multi-modal access to Yashobhoomi, DMRC’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and Dwarka’s cluster bus depot. The 19 km Haryana section of the expressway was inaugurated by Modi in March 2024.
Additionally, the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, built for ₹5,580 crore, will reduce traffic pressure on Delhi’s inner and outer Ring Roads, Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. These spurs will enhance industrial connectivity, streamline goods movement, and cut travel times for commuters traveling to and from neighboring cities.
