Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for artificial intelligence (AI) to be harnessed as a tool for inclusive growth, stressing that technological advancement should improve lives, expand opportunities, accelerate economic development, and contribute to a sustainable future. Addressing the VivaTech Summit in Paris, one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation events, Modi outlined India’s vision of making AI accessible and beneficial to all sections of society.
Speaking before global technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, the Prime Minister said India’s approach to AI is centered on inclusivity. Emphasising the need to democratise technology, he stated that innovation can deliver meaningful progress only when its benefits reach every citizen. Modi described AI as “All-Inclusive” for India, underscoring the government's focus on ensuring that technological disruption serves broader social and economic goals.
The Prime Minister highlighted several examples of how AI and digital technologies are transforming lives across the country. He cited an AI-powered platform known as “Sarala Ben,” which provides livestock and agricultural guidance to millions of women farmers in their local languages. He also pointed to initiatives that train women as drone pilots for agricultural applications, while satellite-based technologies are helping fishermen identify productive fishing zones, reducing costs and improving livelihoods.

Modi further showcased India’s rapid digital transformation over the past decade, noting that technology has become a cornerstone of financial inclusion, healthcare, education, and agriculture. He highlighted the success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which facilitates a significant share of global real-time digital transactions and is now operational at several locations in France. He also referred to platforms such as DigiLocker and PM Gati Shakti, which have improved access to services and enhanced infrastructure planning.
The Prime Minister also focused on India’s growing startup ecosystem, which now includes more than 200,000 startups. Inviting international investors and innovators to collaborate with India, he highlighted innovations being showcased at the India Pavilion, including advancements in artificial intelligence, healthcare technology, cybersecurity, robotics, aerospace engineering, and smart mobility solutions. He said India continues to simplify regulations and provide policy support to encourage entrepreneurship and investment.
Concluding his address, Modi said India offers a favourable environment for innovation through affordable data services, expanding digital infrastructure, and growing access to clean energy. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting industry, startups, and global partnerships, expressing confidence that collaboration with India can help develop technologies that create opportunities, drive sustainable growth, and deliver benefits to people around the world.
