Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated India’s most modern integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district, marking a major milestone in the country’s energy infrastructure development. During the visit, he stated that BJP-led governments focus on completing projects rather than merely announcing them, underlining the administration’s emphasis on execution and delivery.
The Prime Minister arrived at the refinery site around noon after earlier inaugurating a new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport. At Pachpadra, he inspected the state-of-the-art control room, interacted with engineers and technical experts, and reviewed the operational features of the facility before formally dedicating the project to the nation. The event drew a large public gathering despite extreme heat conditions.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the scale of public participation reflected strong confidence in the government’s development agenda. He described the inauguration as a significant step towards building a developed and self-reliant India, adding that such projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to translating announcements into completed infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the rapid restoration work carried out at the refinery following a fire incident earlier this year, stating that engineers and workers had brought operations back on track in record time. He praised their efforts, noting that such resilience reflected the spirit of “New India,” which he said does not lose momentum in the face of challenges.
Referring to broader global conditions, PM Modi spoke about energy security and the impact of geopolitical tensions, particularly in West Asia. He said India had successfully managed supply-side pressures during global disruptions by effectively utilising its resources and strengthening domestic capacity. According to him, the country’s energy strategy has helped cushion the impact of international crises.
Developed at an investment of over ₹79,000 crore, the Pachpadra refinery is expected to significantly enhance India’s refining and petrochemical capacity while boosting industrial growth in western Rajasthan. The project is also projected to generate large-scale employment opportunities and strengthen regional development, making it one of the key infrastructure additions in India’s energy sector.
