Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted the role of women in nation-building, describing women’s empowerment as a defining feature of a strong India and praising their growing contribution across all sectors of society.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi said that mothers, sisters, and daughters are “enhancing the pride of Bharatvarsha in every field” through their determination, dedication, and spirit of service. He emphasised that women’s strength represents the “hallmark of a strong India,” underscoring their role in shaping the country’s progress and identity.
The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit verse invoking Goddess Ambika, offering salutations and prayers for the welfare of the nation. The verse described the deity as the embodiment of divine power and collective strength, symbolically linking spiritual tradition with the theme of women’s empowerment.

Modi’s remarks come amid a broader political discussion in Parliament on women’s reservation and delimitation bills, which are expected to significantly impact representation in legislative bodies. During a special session in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, he stressed that increased participation of women in governance would transform the “direction and condition” of Indian politics.
He further stated that women voters have historically played a decisive role in shaping electoral outcomes, particularly against those who opposed measures aimed at expanding women’s rights. The Prime Minister urged political parties to approach the issue beyond partisan considerations, framing it as a step toward strengthening democratic institutions and achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The Lok Sabha is scheduled to vote on the women’s reservation and delimitation-related bills later in the day after an extended debate. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the discussion could run for up to 12 hours or longer, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla indicated that proceedings may extend to ensure all members have sufficient time to participate in the debate.
