Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a triumphant felicitation from National Democratic Alliance parliamentarians on Tuesday during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting held inside the Parliament House complex. Senior leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda joined the gathering to celebrate the coalition's overwhelming victory in the Bihar assembly elections.
In a symbolic gesture of unity, Modi was garlanded by Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, representing the alliance partners that delivered the massive mandate. The ceremony underscored the seamless coordination among NDA constituents that propelled the coalition to one of its most decisive state victories in recent years.
The 243-member Bihar Assembly now firmly belongs to the NDA with 202 seats, leaving the opposition Mahagathbandhan decimated. The BJP emerged as the largest partner with 89 seats, followed closely by Nitish Kumar's JD(U) with 85 seats, Chirag Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas) with 19 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) with five seats and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha with four seats, ensuring Nitish Kumar's return as chief minister for a record tenth term.
