Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the Lok Sabha, highlighting the wide-ranging impact of the ongoing Middle East conflict on India and drawing parallels with the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Emphasizing the need for unity, he cautioned against opportunistic elements such as hoarders and black marketeers who tend to exploit crises.
In his address, the Prime Minister urged both central and state authorities to remain vigilant, noting that misinformation and panic-driven activities could worsen the situation. He stressed that India had successfully navigated similar challenges during the pandemic through collective effort and discipline. Modi called on political parties and governments to work together to prevent disruption and ensure stability during the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
Highlighting preparedness measures, Modi said that multiple agencies responsible for maintaining law and order, including coastal, border, and cyber security forces, have been placed on high alert. He underscored the importance of proactive monitoring and swift action to counter any emerging threats, particularly in light of the prolonged global instability caused by the conflict.

The Prime Minister also addressed concerns related to food security and agriculture, stating that India remains well-positioned due to strong domestic production. Drawing another comparison with the COVID-19 period, he recalled how global disruptions had led to sharp increases in fertilizer prices and supply shortages. Despite this, the government ensured affordability for farmers by heavily subsidizing key inputs such as urea, shielding them from international price volatility.
Reassuring citizens, Modi said the government remains committed to minimizing hardships and providing assistance to those affected by the conflict. He confirmed that Indian nationals stranded in war-affected regions are receiving support, with emergency services operating круглосуточно through Indian missions abroad. He also noted that he has personally spoken with leaders of several West Asian countries, who have assured the safety of Indian citizens.
The Prime Minister revealed that more than three lakh Indians have already returned home from the region amid the crisis. He described the conflict as a source of economic, security, and humanitarian challenges for India, given its strong trade ties and dependence on the region for energy supplies. With nearly one crore Indians living and working in West Asia, Modi emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the situation while prioritizing the safety and well-being of its citizens.
