Over a dozen Jaipur police personnel were hospitalized after reportedly falling ill from consuming sweets purchased from a local sweet shop, raising serious food safety concerns. The affected officers were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention, where they are currently in stable condition under close monitoring. No critical cases have been reported.
The incident occurred after the personnel consumed sweets from Special Shankar Misthan Bhandar in Jaipur. Soon after, several officers began exhibiting symptoms consistent with food poisoning, including nausea and abdominal discomfort. Authorities swiftly responded to ensure timely medical care and prevent further complications.
In response to the incident, the Rajasthan Food Safety Department conducted an immediate raid on the shop. Food Safety Officer Naresh Kumar confirmed that the shop’s license has been temporarily suspended, the premises sealed, and food samples collected for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of the illness.

Officials have collected multiple samples of sweets and other food items from the shop for detailed analysis. The tests will examine potential contamination, adulteration, or the use of unsafe ingredients. The incident has highlighted concerns about hygiene and food safety practices in commercial establishments. Authorities are urging citizens and businesses to adhere strictly to food safety norms, and have assured that stringent measures will be taken against any violation to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Rajasthan Food Safety officials emphasized their commitment to public health, stating that swift action in cases of suspected foodborne illness is critical. They assured that investigations will continue until the root cause of the incident is established and necessary corrective measures are enforced.
