President Droupadi Murmu hailed Operation Sindoor as a “golden chapter” in humanity’s battle against terrorism, spotlighting the pivotal role of public sector undertakings (PSUs) in strengthening India’s defense capabilities. Speaking at the SCOPE Eminence Awards in New Delhi, Murmu celebrated the contributions of PSUs in developing the indigenous Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System, which proved instrumental during the recent India-Pakistan military conflict. The operation successfully dismantled terrorist camps and thwarted attacks on Indian soil, showcasing the nation’s growing technological prowess.
Murmu underscored the broader impact of PSUs in driving India toward the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. She praised their robust financial performance, noting that three-fourths of PSUs are profit-making, with significant growth in revenue and net profits over the past decade. “Public sector enterprises are catalysts of growth and pillars of prosperity,” she declared, emphasizing their role in setting benchmarks for governance, transparency, and innovation under the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Make in India initiatives.
The President highlighted the critical contributions of PSUs across diverse sectors, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and services. She particularly lauded their role in bolstering national security through advancements like the Akashteer system, which demonstrated “infallible capability” during Operation Sindoor. This indigenous defense system, developed with PSU expertise, stands as a testament to India’s self-reliance in critical technologies, reinforcing the nation’s ability to counter external threats effectively.
