The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), conducted a zonal capacity-building and awareness workshop in Guwahati, targeting the eight Northeastern states. The event brought together representatives from state skill development missions, councils, universities, and technical boards to address the region’s unique opportunities and challenges in skill development. The workshop aimed to foster a cohesive skilling ecosystem through unified standards and robust certification mechanisms.
NCVET executive member Vinita Aggarwal emphasized the need for skill initiatives to extend beyond policy frameworks to state-level implementation, ensuring practical impact. Fellow executive member Neena Pahuja highlighted the urgency of aligning vocational training with the demands of a technology-driven economy, identifying Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force. She stressed that equipping youth with digital and AI-driven competencies is critical for maintaining India’s global competitiveness and fostering an agile, innovative workforce.
In closing remarks, NCVET director Suhas Deshmukh underscored the importance of synergy between states and the council to drive effective implementation of skill development programs.
