Actor Prakash Raj has reportedly landed in legal trouble after a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with a case involving the alleged possession of multiple voter identity cards. The development comes days after the actor addressed the media regarding the ongoing Dharmasthala controversy, bringing renewed attention to a case that has been under legal scrutiny for several years.
According to reports, the 48th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Bengaluru issued the non-bailable warrant after Prakash Raj allegedly failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons. The court observed that the actor had neither responded to the judicial notices nor appeared in person to comply with the legal proceedings. As a result, the court decided to take stricter action to secure his presence before the judiciary.
The case originates from a complaint filed in 2019 by advocate Dileep Kumar at the Halasuru Gate Police Station in Bengaluru. The complaint alleged that Prakash Raj was registered as a voter in multiple states simultaneously, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The allegations prompted authorities to examine whether the actor's voter registrations complied with electoral regulations.

Under the rules of the Election Commission of India, a citizen is permitted to be enrolled as a voter in only one constituency at any given time. Maintaining multiple voter registrations across different locations is prohibited under election laws and can attract legal consequences if proven. The complaint against Prakash Raj is based on allegations that his name appeared in electoral rolls in more than one state.
The issuance of a non-bailable warrant does not amount to a finding of guilt but is a procedural step used by courts when an accused person fails to respond to legal directives. Legal experts note that such warrants are generally issued to ensure the individual's appearance before the court so that proceedings can continue without delay. The case will now move forward through the judicial process, where evidence and arguments from all sides will be examined.
Prakash Raj, known for his work across multiple Indian film industries and his outspoken views on social and political issues, has not yet publicly responded to the latest reports regarding the warrant. Further developments in the case are expected as law enforcement agencies and the court take the necessary steps to enforce the order and continue the proceedings.
