National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) marked a significant milestone on Saturday with its 12th Convocation, where students from various programs were conferred degrees in a grand ceremony. The event, held at the university’s campus, celebrated academic excellence by felicitating outstanding students with medals and awards for their remarkable achievements.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, addressing the gathering, described the convocation as a proud moment not only for the graduates but also for their families and educators who played a pivotal role in their journey. Quoting the Upanishadic maxim “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye” (knowledge is that which liberates), Sood emphasized that true education goes beyond academics, fostering transformation and societal responsibility. He urged the graduates to embrace their legal education as a commitment to upholding justice, constitutional values, and the principle of Dharma (duty), which he described as inseparable from Vidya (knowledge).
Sood also paid tribute to the unsung heroes behind the students’ success—their parents. “The silent sacrifices of parents are the foundation of your achievements,” he said, acknowledging their role as the true architects of the graduates’ journeys. The presence of Supreme Court Justice BV Nagarathna added further prestige to the event, inspiring the students to pursue excellence in their legal careers.
