A 23-year-old newly married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Gurugram, with her family alleging that her husband injected her with a toxic substance. Police have registered a case of dowry death and launched an investigation into the incident, officials said.
The deceased, identified as Kajal, was a resident of Garhi Harsaru village. According to police, she had married Arun Sharma, a resident of Ghaziabad, approximately four months ago following a period of courtship. Kajal was employed as a nurse at a private hospital, while her husband worked as an X-ray technician but had reportedly quit his job soon after their marriage.
Authorities said the couple had been living in the Basai area before Kajal temporarily returned to her parental home earlier this month following a dispute. Arun later moved into her family’s residence, police added. On Wednesday evening, Kajal was reportedly with her sister and sister-in-law when her husband called her downstairs.

Shortly afterward, her sister-in-law found Kajal in a deteriorating condition, bleeding from the nose. She was rushed to a nearby civil hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Family members later reported finding a syringe in the washroom and alleged that Arun had administered poison to Kajal.
Following the incident, police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that a syringe was recovered from the residence, which is being examined as part of the investigation. Based on a complaint filed by the family, a case under relevant sections pertaining to dowry death has been registered at Sector 10 police station.
A forensic examination is underway to determine the exact cause of death. The doctor who conducted the post-mortem stated that viscera samples have been preserved and will be sent for laboratory analysis. Investigating officer ASI Jagdish Chand said the case remains under active investigation and that further details will emerge once the forensic reports are received.
