Women workers from the NDA coalition in Bihar launched a fiery five-hour statewide bandh on Thursday, hitting back at the alleged verbal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother during the Congress' recent 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'. The bandh, starting at 7 am, saw NDA women’s cells, including BJP and JD(U), take to the streets in Patna and beyond, waving placards and chanting slogans against Congress and RJD.
At Patna’s Income Tax roundabout, protesters vented their fury, condemning the opposition for the shocking incident. A sit-in is planned later today outside the BJP state office, with heavyweights like Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal, MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dharmshila Gupta, and state minister Nitin Nabin joining the fray. Patna (Central) SP Diksha assured, “We’ve deployed ample forces to keep the peace.” Similar protests flared up in Nawada, Katihar, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga.

The controversy stems from a viral video showing a man hurling an expletive at a podium set up by a local Congress leader in Darbhanga. The 25-year-old accused was arrested, but tensions remain sky-high. BJP workers clashed with Congress leaders at the opposition’s state headquarters, escalating the drama.
On September 2, PM Modi broke his silence, visibly emotional. “My late mother had no role in politics—what was her fault? Why was she insulted?” he said, adding, “I may forgive Congress and RJD, but Bihar’s people won’t. Every son of Bihar must hold them accountable. Insulting mothers and sisters won’t be tolerated.”
The NDA’s protests signal a fierce political battle, with the alliance vowing to keep the pressure on. As tempers flare, Bihar braces for more showdowns in this explosive saga.
