Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced Wednesday that security forces have eliminated over 325 Naxalites and secured the arrest or surrender of more than 2,000 in just one-and-a-half months, signaling a major breakthrough in the state’s fight against Naxalism. Speaking at an investors’ meet in Bengaluru, Sai emphasized that the menace is confined to the Bastar region, dispelling the notion that it plagues the entire state.
“Our one-year-old government, alongside our brave security forces, has made remarkable strides. In 45 days, we’ve neutralized over 325 Naxalites, with over 2,000 either apprehended or surrendered,” Sai told reporters.
“We’re confident this threat will soon be eradicated.” He credited the success to a robust rehabilitation package encouraging surrenders and the ‘Niyad Nellanar’ (Your Beautiful Village) scheme, which has established 38 security camps in Naxal-hit areas, extending benefits to over 100 villages.
Sai underscored that the rest of Chhattisgarh remains free of Naxal influence, projecting a positive image for investors. He aligned his government’s efforts with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s pledge to eliminate Naxalism nationwide by March 31, 2026.
The intensified operations, backed by a “double-engine” BJP government at the state and central levels, reflect a zero-tolerance policy, bringing Chhattisgarh closer to peace and development.
