On the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) announced the launch of the Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, a scheme offering free legal aid to families of serving and ex-soldiers, officials said Friday. The initiative, set to begin on July 26, commemorates the Indian Army’s 1999 victory in the Kargil War’s Operation Vijay.
NALSA’s executive chairman will virtually launch the scheme and inaugurate legal services clinics at Sainik Welfare Boards nationwide, including one at the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation headquarters in Hamirpur, said Kuldeep Sharma, Secretary and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the District Legal Services Authority. These clinics, staffed by panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers, will provide free legal support to soldiers and their families.
The Saturday event in Hamirpur will see senior judicial and administrative officers, Ex-Servicemen Corporation officials, Sainik Welfare Department representatives, advocates, and soldiers’ families in attendance. The scheme aims to honor Kargil’s heroes by ensuring accessible legal assistance for their kin, reinforcing NALSA’s commitment to social justice.
