Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday emphasised the need to strengthen the State’s power transmission infrastructure to enable future supply to other states. The remarks came during the 16th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting held at the Secretariat in Vijayawada, where 31 projects worth Rs 39,436 crore were cleared.
The proposed investments span industries including energy, IT, tourism, and food processing, and are expected to generate employment for over 1.1 lakh people. Naidu urged officials to fully leverage the State’s solar power potential, with a particular focus on developing Rayalaseema as a renewable energy hub.
“Transmission lines should be robust and connected to both State and national grids to facilitate interstate power supply in the near future,” Naidu said. He highlighted the need to attract large-scale investments in solar energy and to establish solar parks across Rayalaseema to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy footprint.

In addition to green energy, Naidu emphasised positioning the State as a hub for consumer electronics manufacturing, encouraging new units in Sri City, Kopparthy, and Anantapur. He also stressed the importance of developing Global Capability Centers (GCCs) and expanding the IT ecosystem to support sustainable industrial growth.
The SIPB approved projects in Amaravati Quantum Valley and encouraged initiatives converting agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture waste into value-added byproducts, such as ethanol. Naidu also called for modern safety protocols across sectors like pharma, steel, green energy, and battery storage, with standard operating procedures aligned to disaster management norms.
On food processing, the board decided to expand capacity in line with rising horticulture output, providing marketing support for crops such as oil palm and cocoa. Naidu reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s vision to become a leader in renewable energy, electronics manufacturing, and sustainable industrial growth, urging quick implementation of approved projects and investor MoUs.
