Mumbai and its adjoining districts are expected to witness another spell of wet weather on Tuesday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast warning of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as changing weather conditions may affect daily commutes and outdoor activities across the region.
According to the IMD, Mumbai and Thane are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. The weather agency has also indicated the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places, continuing the monsoon activity that has affected several parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in recent days.
Neighbouring Palghar district is expected to receive moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. Wind speeds in some isolated areas could reach between 40 and 50 kmph, making conditions potentially hazardous in exposed locations. Residents have been urged to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions during periods of intense rainfall and strong winds.

Private weather forecasting agency AccuWeather has predicted cloudy skies over Mumbai throughout the day, with intermittent rain likely to develop into steadier showers as the day progresses. The forecast places the maximum temperature at around 30 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures are expected to hover near 26 degrees Celsius. The probability of precipitation has been estimated at 97 percent, with heavier showers anticipated later in the evening and night.
Meanwhile, weather agency Skymet has also forecast rainfall of varying intensity across the city. Humidity levels are expected to remain exceptionally high, ranging between 90 and 98 percent, which could make conditions feel particularly damp and uncomfortable. Moderate winds and periods of significant rainfall are likely during the morning and late-night hours.
Local weather observer Rushikesh Agre noted that atmospheric conditions are beginning to show stronger signs of supporting rainfall activity. He said the situation is expected to improve further from Wednesday, with rain intensity likely to gradually increase across Mumbai as monsoon conditions strengthen over the region.
