A portion of a pillar from the under-construction Mumbai Metro project detached and fell onto a busy road in Mulund (West), leaving at least two people injured. The incident occurred around 12:15–12:30 pm near the Mulund fire station when a parapet segment from Pier P196 gave way and struck vehicles moving below. The sudden collapse triggered panic among commuters and passersby in the area.
According to officials, the debris landed on an autorickshaw and a nearby car. Visuals from the scene showed the three-wheeler severely damaged, with one man struggling to exit the mangled vehicle as bystanders rushed to assist. The bonnet of an orange car parked beside the autorickshaw was crushed under the impact of the falling concrete.
Authorities confirmed that passengers were present inside the autorickshaw at the time of the accident. Two individuals sustained critical injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Emergency responders quickly cordoned off the area to prevent further risk to pedestrians and motorists.
