A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district on Sunday morning when Dr. Pawan Singhal, a 54-year-old veterinary doctor and renowned yoga enthusiast, suffered a suspected heart attack while driving and passed away.
The incident occurred as he was en route to Tulsi Sarovar Park to lead his daily yoga session, a routine he had followed diligently for over a decade.
Dr. Singhal’s car came to an abrupt halt near the park around 4:45 a.m., alarming his students who were awaiting his arrival. Finding him unconscious behind the wheel, they rushed him to the district hospital, where an ECG confirmed his death. Local police from Kotwali station classified it as a natural death, ruling out the need for a post-mortem.
Dr. D.K. Bhargava, civil surgeon at Ashoknagar District Hospital, suggested a “silent heart attack” or sudden cardiac spasm as the likely cause, noting that such events can strike even the seemingly fit with no prior symptoms.
Known as a “yoga guru” in Ashoknagar, Dr. Singhal was celebrated for his extraordinary physical feats, including a 100-kilometer run completed in 11 hours and performing 5,100 Surya Namaskars. His friend Hitendra Budhauliya described him as a beacon of endurance and vitality. Just a day prior, he had posted about upcoming yoga and yajna sessions on social media, reflecting his unwavering commitment to wellness.
The sudden loss has left the community in shock, mourning a cherished figure whose disciplined lifestyle inspired many. Dr. Singhal’s legacy as a health advocate endures amid this unexpected tragedy.
