Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited Varanasi on Monday, offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairava temples. Speaking to the media, he expressed feeling a divine energy at the sacred site and emphasized the spiritual significance of the temples.
Highlighting the city’s transformation, CM Yadav credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Varanasi’s recent growth and development. “Banaras has changed a lot in the past few years. Thanks to PM Modi, whose leadership has brought new glory to Banaras,” he said, sharing his reflections on social media.
The visit came shortly after completing two years in office as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. Yadav, originally from Ujjain, the city of Lord Mahakal, acknowledged the importance of Kashi Vishwanath, describing it as akin to heaven in terms of spiritual value.

During the visit, CM Yadav also paid respects at the residence of Uttar Pradesh Minister Girish Chandra Yadav in Jaunpur, offering floral tributes to the late father of the minister. He invoked Lord Shri Ram to bless the departed soul, sharing his condolences publicly on X.
Prior to the Varanasi trip, Yadav met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. He invited Shah to Gwalior to inaugurate a life-size statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary on December 25, with another statue to be unveiled in Rewa during the same visit.
CM Yadav further announced that the Madhya Pradesh government will perform a ‘bhoomi pujan’ and dedicate development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore to the public to commemorate Vajpayee’s centenary year, reflecting the state’s focus on honoring the former Prime Minister’s legacy.
