In a major nationwide push, the Indian government is launching 1,000 stakeholder meetings, workshops, and outreach programmes over the next 20 days to spread awareness and ensure smooth implementation of the recently signed India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
The outreach blitz will span across states and industries, aiming to educate businesses, industry associations, and local governments about the game-changing trade pact signed on July 24. The government is mobilising teams to conduct sector-specific programmes to break down the agreement’s opportunities and enable faster uptake across the economy.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to kick off high-level consultations with priority sectors, starting with the leather and textiles industry on Monday.

The CETA promises sweeping trade benefits: once in effect, 99% of Indian exports to the UK will enter duty-free, slashing costs and boosting competitiveness. In return, India will lower tariffs on select UK products like cars, cosmetics, and whisky.
The deal, which aims to double bilateral trade to $56 billion by 2030, is a significant step in deepening economic ties between the world’s fifth and sixth largest economies. It also includes strategic concessions designed to protect sensitive Indian sectors, while opening doors for exports and services.
India is also set to benefit from enhanced access for agricultural products, processed foods, textiles, and marine goods, along with duty waivers that help Indian IT and service companies expand their presence in the UK.
As the government kicks off this mega outreach initiative, industries across the country are being urged to participate actively and tap into the vast opportunities presented by the pact.
The clock is ticking—and the race to unlock the full potential of the India-UK trade deal has officially begun.
