The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved development proposals worth around Rs 10,800 crore aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, supporting farmers and improving public welfare initiatives across the state. The decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the Mantralaya in Bhopal, according to an official press note.
A major portion of the approved funds, Rs 8,445 crore, has been allocated for urban infrastructure development over the next five years. The funding will come through additional charges collected from registration and stamp duty under the Municipalities Act and will be transferred to a dedicated fund managed by the Commercial Taxes Department. The money will be used by municipal corporations, councils and Nagar Parishads for city development projects, rejuvenation works and repayment of loans taken for urban infrastructure.
The cabinet also approved a major financial support measure for farmers by providing a free government guarantee of Rs 1,587 crore for the procurement of moong (green gram) under the Centre’s price support scheme for the Rabi season 2023-24, which falls under the marketing year 2024-25. The guarantee includes Rs 396 crore from Punjab National Bank for six months and Rs 1,191 crore from the State Bank of India for one year to support procurement operations.

Another important decision involved the Kundalia Major Irrigation Project in Rajgarh district. The cabinet approved Rs 245.45 crore for continuing the project during the 16th Central Finance Commission period from 2026 to 2031. The project is expected to create irrigation potential for nearly 1,39,600 hectares of farmland across Rajgarh and Agar-Malwa districts through dam construction and micro-irrigation systems.
The state government also approved changes in the management of the Take-Home Ration programme for children. The production and supply responsibilities will now move from the Madhya Pradesh State Livelihood Forum to the Women and Child Development Department. As an interim arrangement, nutritional supplements will be procured through Self-Help Groups, followed by short-term tenders until new central guidelines are introduced.
In addition, the cabinet approved Rs 521.04 crore for the operational requirements of the Commercial Taxes Department for five years from 2026-27 to 2030-31. The allocation includes funds for headquarters, district offices and zonal offices to cover salaries, administrative expenses and maintenance. The government said the combined measures are aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening welfare delivery and supporting economic growth across Madhya Pradesh.
