Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday highlighted the transformative impact of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that militants, separatists, and their patrons are no longer receiving government positions but are being identified and punished for their crimes. He underscored that these changes have created a more accountable and secure environment in the Union Territory.
During the event, Sinha handed over appointment letters to 22 beneficiaries under age relaxation cases and 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs under the Compassionate Appointment Rules (SRO-43) and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS). Earlier, in July, 94 Next of Kins of militancy victims from the Jammu region had received similar appointments, marking a continuing effort to rehabilitate terror-affected families.
Addressing the audience, the LG paid homage to civilians killed by militants and acknowledged the decades-long struggles faced by terror victim families. “Terror victim families were left to struggle in silence for decades. Justice was denied to these families. The deep scars were never healed. Such families are now being recognized, respected, and rehabilitated,” he stated, stressing the government’s commitment to restoring dignity and economic security.

Among those receiving appointment letters were the Next of Kin of Dharam Singh, killed by militants in Kotranka, Rajouri, and the family of Akhtar Hussain, shot dead in Reasi in 2005. Sinha noted that this initiative represents a new beginning for these families, allowing them to rebuild their lives with dignity and contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.
The Lieutenant Governor also reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the terror ecosystem is being dismantled. He warned that elements attempting to spread misinformation or fuel separatism will face stringent legal action, emphasizing that Article 370’s abrogation has restored peace, accountability, and governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
