KRBL Ltd, the powerhouse behind India Gate basmati rice, is stirring up the edible oil market with its new “India Gate Uplife” blended oil range. Launched in February, the Gut Pro and Lite variants target health-conscious consumers, with the company aiming to rake in Rs 200-300 crore in revenue within three years, a top official announced Tuesday.
Priced at Rs 192-199 per litre, the premium oils are positioned to challenge Saffola, the dominant player in the 1.1 lakh tonne blended oil segment. “Saffola has ruled this space, but we’re here to redefine it,” said Ayush Gupta, KRBL’s Business Head (Domestic). The company projects 2,000 tonnes in sales and Rs 50 crore in revenue this fiscal year, scaling up to 8,000-10,000 tonnes and Rs 200-300 crore by 2028.
KRBL’s oils, priced 5.7% above Saffola’s variants, are crafted for niche health needs. Gut Pro, blending 80% rice bran oil with 20% refined soybean oil, promotes gut health and digestion. Lite, combining 80% rice bran oil with 20% sunflower oil, caters to weight management. Production and packaging are outsourced, with the products already available in modern trade, e-commerce, and quick commerce platforms, and general trade distribution planned next.

“Saffola focuses on heart health, but we’re addressing gut health and weight management—untapped areas in blended oils,” said Kunal Sharma, KRBL’s Marketing and Business Head. With India’s edible oil market at 243 lakh tonnes, including 2.6 lakh tonnes of rice bran oil, KRBL sees room to grow. The company is also exploring fortified staples and nutritional foods to capture younger, health-savvy consumers.
KRBL, which reported Rs 4,000 crore in revenue for 2024-25, is banking on its premium branding and innovative products to carve out a slice of the competitive edible oil market. With bold targets and a clear focus, India Gate Uplife could be the next big thing in kitchens nationwide.
