Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Sunday visited a photography exhibition in Mumbai that showcased the evolution and cultural legacy of Bollywood, highlighting the industry’s long-standing influence on India’s artistic and social landscape. The exhibition, titled “Lens & Legacy: Bollywood In Focus,” was held at the National Gallery of Modern Art in the historic Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall. Rijiju described the experience as a “fascinating journey” through Indian cinema, noting that it captured the creativity, cultural depth, and storytelling traditions that have shaped generations of audiences.
During his visit, Rijiju also paid tribute to several iconic personalities featured in dedicated galleries, including veteran actor Dharmendra, legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, and renowned photographer Raghu Rai. The minister praised the exhibition for reflecting how Bollywood continues to mirror India’s diversity and emotional connection with audiences worldwide.
In a post on social media platform X, Rijiju said the exhibition offered a memorable look at India’s cinematic heritage, emphasizing how films have historically captured the country’s evolving aspirations and cultural identity. He added that Bollywood remains one of the most powerful mediums for storytelling and artistic expression in India.

Separately, speaking at an event in Mumbai organised by the National Commission for Minorities in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the Parzor Foundation, Rijiju reiterated that all citizens in India are equal under the Constitution, regardless of religion or population size. He referenced the government’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” approach, stating that no community is viewed through the lens of identity-based distinction.
The minister also dismissed what he described as “false narratives” about the safety of minorities in India, asserting that political attempts to create fear among communities do not reflect constitutional reality. He stressed that India’s governance framework ensures equal rights for all citizens, while highlighting the contributions of smaller communities such as the Parsi Zoroastrians to the country’s socio-economic development.
