Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a pioneering DigiLocker-based nurse registration system on Tuesday, developed by the Karnataka State Nursing Council. This first-of-its-kind technology in India streamlines the issuance of registration certificates using Aadhaar-based e-KYC through DigiLocker, eliminating the need for nurses to travel to Bengaluru for registration.
The system, developed in collaboration with UIDAI, C-eG, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), and the Karnataka State Nursing Examination Board, allows the Nursing Council to directly retrieve nurses’ personal details, including addresses and photos, from the Aadhaar server. It also fetches academic records like SSLC and PUC marks cards from respective boards. Examination results from RGUHS and the Nursing Examination Board are seamlessly integrated, enabling efficient verification.
Through the DigiLocker-Issuer platform, registration certificates are issued directly to nurses, enhancing accessibility and reducing bureaucratic delays. The initiative, hailed as a significant step toward digital governance, aims to simplify processes for thousands of nursing candidates across Karnataka, setting a model for other states to follow.
