Shimla came alive with patriotic pride as the two-day Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations kicked off on Friday at the Army Training Command headquarters, commemorating 26 years of India’s historic victory in the Kargil War.
The solemn opening ceremony was led by Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, who paid homage to the unmatched courage of India’s soldiers. The event honoured Kargil war veterans whose bravery continues to inspire generations.
Emotional and powerful, the celebrations featured a striking photo and video exhibition showcasing gripping moments from the Kargil conflict and stories of heroism from the front lines. Visitors were moved by immersive presentations and rare footage from Operation Sindoor, capturing the raw intensity and triumph of India’s armed forces.
