Actor and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut has issued a public statement reacting to a recent alleged dowry-related death case, urging young women to prioritise financial independence and personal agency over marriage decisions. In a detailed note shared on social media, Ranaut referenced multiple recent incidents of alleged dowry harassment and suicides involving young married women, stating that many victims reportedly sought help from their families before facing fatal outcomes. She criticised what she described as societal tendencies to “abandon daughters after marriage,” arguing that structural and emotional support systems often weaken once women leave their parental homes.
Ranaut further advised young women to focus on building careers before considering marriage, stating that financial independence should be a priority. She emphasised self-reliance, saying women must take responsibility for their own lives and decisions rather than depending on others for protection or stability.

Authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of harassment raised by the victim’s family against her husband and in-laws, including claims of possible foul play.
According to police officials, the victim’s family—based in Noida—alleged that she had been in contact with them shortly before her death and had expressed a desire to leave her marital home. The case has drawn wider scrutiny as part of a series of similar incidents, intensifying debate around dowry-related harassment and women’s safety in marriage.
