Renowned Indian singer Kailash Kher abruptly halted his live concert at the Gwalior Vyapar Mela Maidan on December 25, 2025, after a section of the audience turned unruly and breached barricades during the performance. The show was organized to mark the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Initially, the crowd appeared enthralled by Kher’s soulful renditions of popular tracks such as Teri Deewani, Saiyaan, Tauba Tauba, and Chaandan Mein. However, enthusiasm soon escalated into chaos as enthusiastic fans jumped the security barriers and rushed toward the stage in an attempt to get closer to the artist.
Visibly distressed by the unfolding disorder, Kailash Kher paused his performance and addressed the audience directly in an effort to restore order. In a widely circulated video clip, he can be heard saying, “Humne aapki prashansa ki aur aap itna jaanwargiri kar rahe hain. Janwargiri mat kariye please... Agar koi humare instruments ya equipment ke paas aaya, toh hum show band kar denge” (I’m praising you all, and you are behaving like animals. Please don’t behave like animals. If anyone comes anywhere near our instruments or equipment, we’ll stop the show. Despite his repeated appeals for decorum and respect, the crowd failed to calm down, prompting the singer to end the concert prematurely.
Before stepping off the stage, Kher offered a respectful farewell to the audience, saying, “Aapko main pranaam karta hoon” (I bow to you all), and then walked away. The sudden discontinuation of the event left many attendees disappointed, while others expressed understanding of the artist’s decision to prioritize safety. The incident has since gone viral on social media, with the video of Kher’s plea and subsequent exit drawing widespread reactions from fans and netizens alike.

Kailash Kher had earlier shared his excitement about performing in Gwalior via an Instagram post, inviting fans to join the special tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The concert was intended as a cultural celebration honoring the legacy of the late statesman, who represented the city in Parliament for multiple terms. The unfortunate turn of events has once again highlighted challenges faced by performers in managing large, highly charged crowds at open-air venues, especially during emotionally significant occasions. Authorities have not yet commented on any follow-up action regarding crowd management or security lapses at the event.
